![]() Sure, you could trivially handle that work flow with a Ryzen 9 plus maybe dual RTX 3070s, but you are also look at at $3k-$4k price point! We can all look at our current DaVinci editing systems and realize that a $699 equivalent of our systems with only 8 GB RAM and an integrated GPU would be able to handle multiple 4K clips and 8K RED Raw clips only with heavy optimizations turned on. but all he needed to do there was just reduce the timeline resolution to 1/2 resolution and it was fine. The very first time it stumbled at all was playing an 8K RED Raw clip. The TL DW is that the base Mac Mini crushes all of this tests. ![]() Then, RED Raw clips, from 4K to 5K to 6K to 8K: He then downloaded the M1-specific DaVinci Resolve 17 (kudos to Black Magic Design for being so incredibly ahead of the curve on that, btw) and tried to stress test this super cheap Mac. Alex, from the "Learn Color Grading" YouTube channel bought the cheapest Mac available, which is an M1-based Mac Mini for $699, with only 8GB RAM.
